Rachelle Bojer, MSPT graduated from Mercy College in 2001 with a Master’s in Physical Therapy and Health Science. She did her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Social Science Interdisciplinary at SUNY Stony Brook. Rachelle has conducted research with the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, and consequently developed her thesis on balance strategies in various age groups.
Rachelle has practiced orthopedic physical therapy in a private practice in midtown Manhattan, serviced early intervention cases in Nassau county, and practiced in a school for developmentally delayed children. For 8 years, she was the Director of Physical Therapy for Othopaedic Associates of Manhasset, an outpatient facility associated with a renowned group of orthopedic surgeons affiliated with Northwell in Manhasset, NY.
Rachelle has always had a passion for women’s health and wellness. She has taken various continuing education classes to learn more about how she can help this population. Through her experience over the years, Rachelle has developed FIT2BMOMMY, a pre-natal exercise program focused on safe strengthening and stretching exercises during pregnancy. These exercises also help to prevent diastasis recti, a common abdominal separation during pregnancy. CORE CONNECTION is a mommy-baby program that focuses on strengthening and stretching your post-baby body, resolving abdominal separation and pelvic floor weakness, while nurturing the bond between mommy and baby.
Treating pregnancy related issues became a natural transition to treating various pelvic floor dysfunction. In addition to treating diastasis recti and orthopedic issues related to childbirth, Rachelle also specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction issues such as incontinence-urge, urinary frequency and stress, prolapses of organs, chronic constipation, vulvadynia, vaginismus, interstitial cystitis, sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain. These can result from childbirth, trauma, abdominal or pelvic surgeries and hormonal changes.
Pelvic floor therapy can also be beneficial to men who have undergone prostatectomy surgery. Pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction and incontinence can all be treated with exercise, biofeedback and education.
She treats these issues with compassion and understands the sensitivity associated with them. All sessions are private and held to the strictest confidentiality.
In 2009, Rachelle gave birth to twins, Jack and Kate. During her pregnancy, she put to the test her abdominal strengthening program and was able to carry twins to 38 weeks without developing a diastasis. Having had a c-section, she knows firsthand the complications that can occur with scar adhesion and recovery from surgery. Her children were the driving force to start her own business. Lotus Physical Therapy, PC was established in 2012 in Huntington, NY. In her practice, Rachelle has dedicated her work to helping both women and men stay well and healthy so they can enjoy their families and participate in activities they enjoy.
Rachelle lives in Centerport with her husband, Scott, her two children and their dog, Marley. She enjoys spending time with her family, food, cooking, Zumba, yoga, and traveling.
